Lotus Moon - Ten Chinese Folk and Art Songs
Shu Cheen Yu was a principal artist with the Beijing Opera Company. Since emigrating to Australia she has joined the Opera Australia company and appeared in some of the country's most high profile arts events.
On her debut album for ABC Classics, she brings together both of her musical worlds - Chinese songs and opera arias. She has selected ten ravishing folk songs and art songs. The other half of the album are favourite arias by Puccini (from Madama Butterfly, Turandot, La Rondine andGianni Schicchi), Handel (including Let the bright seraphim), Mozart (The Magic Flute) and Gershwin's immortal Summertime.
