Shu-Cheen is one of the nation’s most awarded opera singers. She has been bestowed with many prestigious awards, the highlights of which include:

 

  • Voted ‘Best Performer’ of 2001 by Sydney’s North Shore Times Newspaper.

 

  • Winner of ‘United Young Excellence Achievers Award’ by the Taiwan Government in 1997 and 1998.

 

  • Winner of the Shell Royal Opera House Covent Garden Award - one year at National Opera Studio, London - 1994/95

 

  • Winner of the prestigious Placido Domingo International Opera Award - First Prize for Soprano Category - one month development in Vienna – 1994

 

  • Winner of the New York Metropolitan Opera Award - Australian Region – six months intense singing and language development at Metropolitan Opera. Recital at the United Nations - 1992/93

 

  • Winner of the National Lieder Competition in Sydney Australia – 1991

 

Her solo album Lotus Moon, a best seller for ABC Classics, was nominated for an ARIA award as Classical Record of the Year in 2001.

 

In 2003 Shu-Cheen sang the lead role of Judo for Chamber Made Opera's Melbourne production Possessed for which she was nominated for the Female Lead Role for both the Green Room and Helpmann Award.
